Even Ryanair is saying “don’t fly”
This week it warned that the new EU Entry/Exit System (EES) isn’t ready for peak summer travel, saying passengers shouldn’t be used as “guinea pigs” while the system is put through its paces.

There are some gatherings that don’t quite work at home.
Not because home is wrong, but because home comes with jobs. Someone is hosting. Someone is tidying. Someone is worrying about beds, towels, parking, washing up, whether the neighbours can hear the noise, and whether the kitchen can cope with feeding twenty people.
And there are some gatherings that do not quite work in hotels either.
Hotels are useful, but they split the group up. Everyone has a separate room, a separate key card, a separate breakfast rhythm. You meet in the bar, then separate again. You meet for dinner, then separate again. The weekend becomes a series of organised meeting points rather than one shared experience.
The best group weekends often happen somewhere in between.
Not home.
Not hotel.
A proper, grand, shared house.
That is where people relax differently. Nobody is carrying the full pressure of hosting, but everyone still gets the warmth of being under one roof. There is a kitchen to wander into, a table to gather around, sitting rooms for long conversations, gardens for children and dogs, hot tubs for easy evenings, and enough bedrooms for people to feel comfortable rather than squeezed in.
It gives the group a base.
That is more important than it sounds. A base changes the whole feel of a weekend. People do not have to keep arranging where to meet. They do not have to move from one venue to another. They do not have to force the togetherness into booked slots.
They simply arrive, settle in, and let the weekend find its own rhythm.
Some people will want a walk. Some will want the pub. Some will want to stay by the fire, sit in the garden, cook, read, play games, talk late, sleep in, or get up early with a coffee before everyone else appears.
A good house lets all of that happen without making the group feel scattered.
That is what Luxury Group Stay is built around: large houses around the UK where families, friends, hens, colleagues and celebration groups can gather properly. Houses with space, comfort and enough of a sense of occasion to make the weekend feel special without turning it into hard work.
Because often, the success of a group stay is not about doing more.
It is about choosing the right place for everyone to land.
Somewhere away from the jobs of home.
Somewhere more inviting than a hotel.
Somewhere the weekend belongs to the group.
You can explore all of our large houses around the UK here.
Thanks,
Neil Atkinson

Brits flying this summer warned to check airport rules if flying with liquids. The 100ml liquid allowance rule is being relaxed at some UK airports, but not all.

After months of dark mornings, cancelled plans, “we must sort something soon” messages and everyone disappearing into routine… suddenly the country gets 22 degrees and a bit of blue sky and everybody wants to gather.

There’s a particular feeling that arrives the moment a group weekend finally gets booked. Not during the trip. Before it. The relief.

Every summer seems to arrive with a new layer of travel chaos. Flight delays. Airport queues. Now stories about jet fuel shortages and airlines warning about disruption.

There is a funny thing about organising a big group weekend. The hard part is not always finding enough beds. No, it’s finding somewhere that still feels relaxed once everyone has arrived.
