What makes Ceredigion so special compared to other locations is that it offers enchanting experiences, such as dolphin watching in Cardigan Bay. The bay is known as Europe’s largest population of bottlenose dolphins, and boat trips from New Quay or Aberaeron give visitors a great chance to see them in their natural habitat. For those who are lucky, you might also see seals or porpoises throughout your adventure!

Ceredigion’s beaches are some of the most underrated in the United Kingdom, with every beach being incredibly stunning and unique in its features. Borth beach stretches for three miles and is perfect for swimming, surfing, or simply walking along the tide. Nearby, the Ynyslas Sand Dunes offer stunning views across the estuary and are filled with wildlife.

While on these beach walks, the Victoria Inn is one of the best pubs to visit near Borth beach, as it offers a coastal view from its beer garden! The beer garden is right on top of the beach, creating a tropical feel, especially if the sun is out!

Speaking of the coastline, Ceredigion is home to some of the most spectacular sections of the Wales Coast Path, with hidden coves and dramatic cliffsides. There are plenty of fantastic coastal attractions to admire throughout Ceredigion. The trails throughout the coast are varied for different abilities, meaning no matter if you are looking for a gentle walk or a coastal trek, Ceredigion is the place to be.

Ceredigion has one of the most historically significant castles in Wales. Cardigan Castle contains over 900 years of Welsh History, with the castle being the site of the first-ever Eisteddfod in 1176, a tradition that still celebrates Welsh music and poetry. The castle has been restored and well-preserved, featuring spectacular gardens, exhibitions and regular cultural events.

St Padarn’s Church is also located in Ceredigion, and it is the largest medieval church in mid-Wales and was founded back in the early 6th century. It has since evolved from a Welsh monastic centre to a parish church that visitors can explore.

Not to mention Derry Ormond Tower, which is a Grade II listed tower built between 1821 and 1824. Designed by C.R. Cockerell, it stands a huge 127 feet tall and offers some brilliant panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.

There are plenty of fantastic towns and villages to experience throughout Ceredigion, such as Aberystwyth, which is the largest town in Ceredigion. A vibrant university town with plenty of history, it is also a fantastic place to visit if you want to experience quiet village life throughout Wales with small shops, pubs and attractions littered throughout the town.

Villages such as Cenarth, which sits on the border with Carmarthenshire, are also highlights of the county. Cenarth is famed for its waterfalls and centuries-old fishing traditions, making it one of the most peaceful spots to visit throughout Wales.
