Property Description

This charming 3-bedroom villa in Dordogne, France is set on 8 acres of peaceful countryside. It overlooks a wild valley and comfortably sleeps up to 6 guests.

Originally a farmhouse, it’s now a lovingly renovated home full of traditional French character.

The main bedroom overlooks old walnut trees and has a freestanding bath big enough for two. Both downstairs bedrooms open straight out into the garden.

The back door leads to a terrace made for outdoor living – think alfresco meals, a swimming pool, a log-fired hot tub, comfy chairs, hammocks and, of course, the view. The land runs all the way down into the valley and you’re welcome to explore. There are walks in every direction, through woods and meadows and past fields of sunflowers.

You’ll also meet the resident dwarf goats, sheep and pygmy pigs. Chickens wander around freely and fresh eggs are nearly always available. All of the animals here are rescued.

There’s no light pollution at all. Nights are properly dark, with clear, dramatic starry skies.

Animals
You’ll be staying on a working farm and animal sanctuary. While you’re here, you’re our priority, so please let us know if anything isn’t quite right and we’ll do our best to sort it.

The dogs roam freely and can be a bit boisterous. If you’re nervous or would prefer them to be put away, just let us know. Children must be supervised around the dogs.

Please check with us before feeding any of the animals, as they all have carefully managed diets.

Heating
If you’re visiting in the cooler months, the house is heated by a wood burner in the lounge, with radiators warming the bedrooms. You’ll need to bring logs in from just outside and keep the fire going. If you head out for the day, it can be turned down so the house is warm when you return. Full instructions are in the house manual, and we’ll talk you through it.

Hot tub / Norwegian bath
Perfect for soaking under the stars – or even enjoying breakfast. The Norwegian bath is available from April to October, and sometimes in other months for a small extra charge to cover the wood. Depending on the season, it can take up to half a day and around 40kg of logs to heat up.

Things to Note

  • Retreats in plant-based cookery, personal development and healthy and sustainable living are offered, so please request if you would like to add a unique life-changing experience to your holiday.
