The place has lovely windows with gently curved arches. All of them are double-glazed, and with good insulation, full central heating, underfloor heating and heated towel rails, you can expect a really warm and comfy stay in this luxury Derbyshire self-catering cottage. There’s also a wood-burning stove in the lounge for chilly evenings, which gives the big sitting room a cosy, welcoming feel. The floors are a mix of oak, stone and tiles, adding plenty of character.

The main entrance to the cottage is on the ground floor in the centre of the house, with a stunning galleried staircase leading up to the kitchen. The oak staircase and large oak front door make a great feature, and you can see them from almost every room.

This unusual Peak District cottage has ground-floor access to both levels and comes with six bedrooms: two doubles and two twins, all with en-suite shower rooms. The bathrooms have smart white wall tiles, black tiled floors, and five have open showers while one has a roll-top bath. They’re all finished with chrome fittings for a bit of extra luxury. The bedrooms are furnished with handmade pine pieces in reclaimed antique wood, and the brass and cast-iron beds add even more charm. Each room has matching furnishings and linen to tie everything together.

The cottage sleeps 12 plus 4 extra, with four bed chairs in the bedrooms, plus two travel cots if needed. Prices quoted are for 5 bedrooms sleeping 10 plus 3, but the sixth annex bedroom means it can sleep up to 16.

All electricity, heating, logs, linen and towels are included in the price. There’s plenty of parking, but we do ask guests to be careful, as children and pets may be around.

Children are very welcome, though guests are asked to take extra care as there are large grounds, animals and vehicles on site. There’s also a large nature pond, and children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. If you’ve got little ones, you can ask to have your garden area fenced off for added peace of mind.

There’s also a sauna room for up to six people, available by arrangement.
